Friday Favorites: Nativity Set for Kids

Today’s Friday Favorites is not only a favorite of mine, but truly one of my children’s as well.

Yesterday for St. Nicholas Day, my boys came down the stairs to discover their Fisher Price Little People Nativity Set all set up and ready for hours of Advent and Christmas playtime. I’m pretty sure Mark had forgotten that we gave this set to him on St. Nick’s Day last year, so man oh man were both boys surprised yesterday!

This year I set up a “scene” for the nativity set:

I bought blue foam board at Hobby Lobby (40% off) and punched holes in it with white twinkle lights to create the “Bethlehem night sky” effect. [I used two pieces of foam board taped together in the back to create the height, and a strand of 100 white Christmas lights.] The large gold star hanging from the “sky” is from the Dollar Tree.

I purchased a beautiful piece of heavy-duty green felt at Joann’s Fabrics (40% off plus an extra 25% off with coupon – great deal!) and covered the top of my coffee table-turned-play-table for the “green grass” effect.

Small Christmas trees (Michael’s Crafts, after-Christmas clearance a few years ago), white “snow” felt (Dollar Tree), and battery operated white candle lights (Dollar Tree) completed the scene.

I was really pleased with the finished product. So were my bear cubs:

There are numerous options out there for kid’s nativity sets, but the Little People one is my all-time favorite. It’s durable, adorable, and the newest version is also musical (it plays Away in a Manger and Baby Jesus lights up).

I was so pleased to discover that the Fisher Price website is offering their new edition Nativity on sale this week ($40 instead of the usual $54.99-59.99.) and now through December 11th they are offering FREE shipping on orders of $25 or more! This is the very best deal I’ve seen so far on the Fisher Price Nativity (also beats Amazon and eBay). Orders placed by Dec. 12th are promised to arrive by Christmas. (Hint hint hint from your kids and grandkids! Haha).

Happy Friday y’all!
