This week, from September 16-22, is “National Singles Week,” a week set aside to recognize single Americans and their contributions to our great country.
In honor of Singles Week, I dedicate today to all of the single ladies who read my blog. I know there are many of you, because you write and tell me that you’re Little Bit of Paradise fans. Many of you are praying for me and my little family with our crazy struggles and adventures. For this I am eternally grateful.
But what you might not know is that I am praying for YOU too…
You see, there are very few people on the planet closer to my heart than all the single ladies – particularly those who desire to be united to a soul mate in marriage.
I spent most of my 20s single, waiting, hoping to find the man of my dreams. I know the all too familiar taste of loneliness and longing….the desire to be loved by a soul mate, to have children, to raise a family, to feel united and bonded and one with another.
I do not know what it feels like to go through your 30s or 40s or even 50s and struggle with those same thoughts and feelings. But you have told me that it certainly doesn’t get easier. Faith and hope and perseverance just become more difficult. The ache becomes stronger. The hope becomes harder to keep alive.
My challenge to you beautiful ladies is to not let the ugly stain of cynicism and hopelessness cloud your lovely faces. You most likely don’t realize what a powerful witness of faith you are to those around you when you still radiate hope, self confidence, and faithfulness to God’s plan for you in the here and now. Whether you’re 22 or 52, truly, you are my heroes, and you are often in my prayers.
