Three Years and Counting
Three years ago today I married my best friend.
The Hubs and I can’t believe it’s been three years already. The other part of us feels like we’ve been together forever.
So much has happened in the past three years. Two moves. Two kids. Two years put in towards Pete’s MBA. Two international trips. (Starting to see a pattern here – I guess we like to do things in doubles?)
Peter and I first met online. Catholic Match dot com, to be precise. I was one of those girls who thought “Internet dating” was only for freaks and geeks. There was no way in you-know-where I thought I’d ever date – let alone marry – someone I met from the Internet.
I guess this is just one more way God has shown me how not in control I am (thank goodness!). I know God uses the Internet – because He used it to introduce me to the best man I’ve ever known.
Shortly after our wedding Catholic Match asked me to write our story for their online magazine. You can read it here.
Today is full of celebration at our house. The Hubs is getting home from work a bit early, and we plan to exchange cards and gifts and open a bottle of champagne that’s currently chilling in the fridge. Then later tonight my dear friend Christine is coming over to watch our boys so MacGyver can take me out on a fancy hot date. I’m so excited!
Should You Consider Using the Internet Too?
I am frequently contacted by single young adults asking for advice or encouragement in their search for a godly spouse. It’s not easy to faithfully pursue the vocation of marriage in today’s world. Believe me, I know.
Do I think you should give online dating a try?
While that’s entirely up to you, my two cents is that it’s worth a shot. Certainly don’t give up making yourself available for the right person in as many ways as possible; don’t give up doing what you’re currently doing to make yourself available for meeting other singles. But perhaps adding a subscription to a singles’ website such as Catholic Match might be another avenue worth pursuing. Maybe God wants to use the Internet to work in your life, too.
In celebration of our anniversary, Catholic Match has graciously extended to my Blog readers a special discount price for a subscription to their website: 6 months for $59.70. Use coupon code “SPARK12” at checkout. And please feel free to forward this discount code to your friends and family members.
Just In Case:
Not sure if MacGyver will have a chance to read my Blog today or not, but just in case he does:
Happy Anniversary Babe! I love you!
